SCX10 Body Mount Set Summary

'No More Pins' Bodyshell Mount Plate Set for Axial SCX10:

Get that scale look and no more body clips to lose!

Whats Included?:

2 x Bodyshell Mount Plates.
2 x Strips of genuine Velcro® self-adhesive 'hook & loop' tape (enough for 1 bodyshell).

What Does It Do?:

3D printed using Selective Laser Sintering, these tough, light (12 grams each) nylon plates fit snugly onto the standard bodyshell mount posts of your Axial SCX10 using the stock split pins. Then using self-adhesive 'hook & loop' tape you mount your bodyshell onto the plates with no holes to drill through the body or ugly posts sticking through.

Will It Fit My Truck?

  • Axial SCX10 Rubicon.
  • Axial SCX10 Dingo.
  • Axial SCX10 G6.
  • Many aftermarket bodies (Pro-line etc.).
Originally designed for the Axial SCX-10 Jeep Rubicon body, the mount plates will also work with Axial Dingo style bodies. But if you have an Axial Honcho you will find that the rear plate will not fit due to the spare tyre well in the rear of the Honcho's shell.

The mount plates may also be suitable for a wide range of aftermarket bodyshells for the SCX-10, depending on their shape.

Please note that they will NOT fit a Vaterra Ascender
, as its bodyshell mount posts are further apart than an SCX10.

How To Use:

WARNING: Attaching a tow rope etc. to your bodyshell to right your truck after a roll-over in a G6 style competition is okay. But DO NOT pick your whole truck up by the bodyshell when using these mount plates.

Fitting your bodyshell:

  1. Align the bodyshell above the chassis and lower it into place.
  2. Apply a little pressure onto the outside of the body shell where the front and rear mount plates contact to ensure the 'hook & loop' tape has joined together.

Removing your bodyshell:

WARNING: Be careful where you hold your bodyshell when you lift it to remove, as you do not want to e.g. rip wheel arch corners etc.
  1. Slowly lift one side of either the front or rear of the bodyshell so the 'hook & loop' tape slowly peels off: You want the 'hook & loop' tape to peel apart from one side of the mount plate to the other.
  2. Once one mount plate has released, repeat for the other end of the bodyshell, remember to slowly lift one side of the bodyshell so the 'hook & loop' tape peels apart from one side of the mount plate to the other.

Installation:

Fit mount plates onto chassis (please also refer to pictures above):
  1. Slide one of the mount plates onto the bodyshell mount posts at the front of your truck. Then secure it using the bodyshell clips that came with your kit. Then repeat for the mount posts at the rear of your truck.
  2. Please note that the spacing of the holes on the mount plates is slightly wider than the body mount posts that come out of the shock towers. This is by design and helps brace the shock towers. If you have aftermarket metal shock towers (Vanquish etc.) you will find the mount plates are tight, but should still fit.

Stick 'hook' side of 'hook & loop' tape onto mount plates:
  1. The tape should be long enough to cover the black mount posts/body clips on each side of the mount plate.
  2. Peel the backing off the 'hook' side of one strip of the tape, then stick it onto the front mount plate.
  3. Firmly press the tape onto the plate for at least 10 seconds.
  4. Then repeat for the rear mount plate.

Test bodyshell fit:
  1. Make sure that your bodyshell is dry & clean. It must be free from dust, mud, oil, grease etc. before you continue.
  2. Put your bodyshell onto your truck in its normal position and check that it contacts onto the mount plates, tyres clear wheel arches etc. - You may need to raise or lower your bodyshell mount posts to suit.
  3. If you have a Rubicon and have installed the filler cap from the Axial kit into the fuel cell, you may need to move it slightly rearwards to allow the rear mount plate to contact the bodyshell.

Stick 'loop' side of 'hook & loop' tape onto bodyshell:

Once you are happy with the height of your bodyshell posts, stick the 'loop' side of the 'hook & loop' tape onto the bodyshell:
  1. When you have worked out where the mount plates will contact your bodyshell, make sure it is clean and free from dust, mud, oil, grease etc. in those areas.
  2. If not already attached: Align & press the 'loop' sides of the tape onto the hook sides (which you have stuck onto the mount plates).
  3. Peel the backing off of both the 'loop' strips - You are now ready to bring in your bodyshell.
  4. Carefully align your bodyshell above your truck and then slowly lower it towards the mount plates, checking that it is aligned as you go. Once the bodyshell has touched the front and rear mount plates, press the outside of the bodyshell where the mount plates are so that the adhesive of the 'hook & loop' tape - press for at least 10 seconds.
  5. You're done!

Disclaimer:

This product is designed to mount scale remote controlled truck bodyshells onto their chassis. Intended use is for scale competitions and trail driving. While the 'hook & loop' tape is strong the bodyshell may come loose under some circumstances.

Answer to Noah (08/17/2015) - 4WheelRC - 01 September 2015
Hi Noah, I have never had a problem with paint peeling off because of the velcro tape. As long as you wash & dry your lexan shell before spraying (using a good quality lexan paint) you should not have a problem.

Would like to get this but...If you spray paint from under shell, won't adhesive on hook and loop possible pull off paint?
